Create your own DIY Father's Day card
Here’s how to get started on that card that will brighten Dad's, or even Grandpa's day. Head over to our catalog and pick the scene that you like.
You’ll find plenty of father’s day and family scenes here to use as a starting point, ready for you and your miniature team to customize. They include dads and children being involved in lots of different activities.
Now the fun really begins. Once you’re all satisfied with the scene you want to edit, click ‘customize’ to start to make the illustration your own.
Using the Editor
You’ll see there’s a lot of tools here to help you get the illustration you’d like. It packs a punch, but using it is like child’s play. Creating the perfect father’s day illustration will take you 5 minutes or less!
The first thing is to decide whether you want to choose your own colors, or if the team wants to color in the illustration. We recommend the latter. That extra step can give them plenty of pride in their work, and it saves on colored ink, too 🎨.
To get an outlined look for the illustration, drag the look and feel slider to the left, so you have a linear style. It’s absolutely perfect for coloring in. Whilst we can’t admit we designed it with this in mind, it’s a great happy accident!
Next, you can swap anything in the illustration to make it feel as personal as possible. Any of the characters can be changed, as well as any of the objects in the scene. You can remove things too, if you want. Simply scroll down on the right-hand sidebar and click on any of the elements of the illustration you’d like to make vanish.
If you need extra inspiration at this stage, you can click shuffle variations - perfect if you’re feeling lucky. That changes everything in the illustration at once. It’s so simple that the kids can take charge of this part, if you let them near the mouse!
Turning Your Father’s Day Illustration into a Card Template
Next, download your image as a JPG or a PNG file. You can export as a custom file size, and we recommend picking a larger size, as it’s easier to shrink down without losing any quality.
Next, print your Father’s Day illustration on paper with 11” x 8” dimensions, leaving some space to write a heartfelt message, a silly joke or a signature scribble. If you’re looking for a standard card design, drop your illustration on the right-hand half of a landscape page if you want the illustration to be on the front. Flip it over and do the same again if you would like an illustration on the inside right of the card, too.
The Finishing Touches
Once that’s fresh out of the printer, it’s time to get decorative. Grab the crayons and make your Father’s Day masterpiece. You could even try glitter, stickers, and anything else that’s in the craft box, although we’re sorry that we can’t help you with the clean up!
The final step? Proudly present your Father’s Day card to one soon-to-be impressed dad. The card can take pride of place on the fridge, pinboard or on top of the fireplace, and is a wonderful little memory to keep for the future.
